It’s easy to look at the news cycles surrounding America’s retirement system and see nothing but doom and gloom, whether it’s about Social Security solvency to how many Americans are inadequately prepared for their eventual retirement. Yet it’s also easy to lose context and ignore all of the stunning progress that the industry has managed to create out of a few lines of legislative text from decades ago. As traditional pension plans approach their freezing point, defined contribution plan assets are approaching $10 trillion in AUM and what Americans depend their hopes and dreams for retirement life on.
Along the way, everything from comprehensive in-plan investment options and solutions to innovative plan designs with participant behavior in mind to financial and holistic wellness support were created out of thin air to support this giant multitrillion dollar industry. So many success stories can be drawn upon as we plot the next chapter in DC for plan sponsors and participants as we fortify this integral component of the economy.
So as the world celebrates the holiday season this Winter, join us at New York City to celebrate all the advancements that this industry has been able to achieve, hear important and enlightening case studies from plan sponsors and industry experts who have been in the trenches, and learn from their experiences and best practices for your own plan.
The Defined Contribution Institute was created to serve DC plan sponsors, and we rely upon an Advisory Board of plan sponsors to help conceptualize and guide each event’s agenda. We sincerely thank this year’s Advisory Board as well as everyone who has provided — and will continue to provide — input to ensure that the topics we are addressing are current, practical, and pertinent.
