The past few years in the industry have been fertile grounds for discussions and debates on the concept of retirement income. Much has been said and much is yet to come. For a concept that was originally limited to in-plan annuities, retirement income as an industry topic and blossomed into a multi-faceted conversation that encompasses various considerations like financial wellness, customization, underlying investment principles and structures, and so much more.
Plan sponsors and industry providers are witnessing this concept taking shape before their eyes. The complexities and nuances that exist plan-to-plan and participant-to-participant have contributed to the aforementioned sophistication and refinement of the retirement income debate, and leading to new and varied ideas coming forth for plan sponsors to consider.
Our second annual Retirement Income Symposium will look at all the various routes, and combinations of routes, that are available for plan sponsors to consider with regards to retirement income as the industry grapples with decumulation and guiding participants on a fulfilled and bountiful retirement.

The Defined Contribution Institute was created to serve DC plan sponsors, and we rely upon an Advisory Board of plan sponsors to help conceptualize and guide each event’s agenda. We sincerely thank this year’s Advisory Board as well as everyone who has provided — and will continue to provide — input to ensure that the topics we are addressing are current, practical, and pertinent.
